Enterrement dans un village de pêcheurs près de Pondicherry
J'ai suivi une procession funéraire qui s'en allait sur la plage.
Les hommes m'ont invitée à entrer dans le cimetière et à filmer.
Burrial in a fichermen village close to Pondicherry
I followed a funeral procession along the beach.
Men invited me to join them in the cemetery and to take film and pictures

J'ai vu un petit corps mort tout emberlificoté de tissus colorés et usés.
Il m'a fait pensé à un enfant qui dort avec ses doudou.
I saw a small dead body entangled in colouful and used clothes.
It recalled me of a child sleeping with its "security blanket"

Dés qu'il est sorti du trou, les hommes ont recouvert le corps de poignées de sable.
Puis ils ont attaché une cruche pleine d'eau trouée en arrosoir sur le dos du prêtre
qui a tourné autour de la proéminence sableuse jusk'à l'asséchement de la cruche.

La puja a été faite.
Le prêtre a porté le plateau de victuailles vers les brousses
en criant des incantations dont l'énergie était porteuse de "va-t-en, va-t-en,
esprit du mort, prends la nourriture, sers-toi tant que tu veux et va-t'en".
